This September, we're asking people to set themselves a challenge and raise funds for SRCC. Whether it's running 100km or reading 5 books, we want to hear from you! Check out our website srcc.ie for more information "

This September, we are inviting you to join us in our #SRCCChallenge and help raise funds for Sligo Rape Crisis Centre. Covid-19 dramatically changed how our services operated on a day-to-basis. It altered our counselling service provision and undoubtedly impacted the Centre’s fundraising activities. Throughout, we adapted our services so that our counselling sessions could be maintained, ensuring that we could continue to meet the needs of our clients. We recognise that we could not have done this without the support of our dedicated team of volunteers, supporters and friends of our service. We are very grateful for all they do.

Our service, which covers Sligo, Leitrim and Cavan,  receives its core funding from Tusla, but fundraising in the local community has always contributed greatly to the roll out and awareness raising of the essential services provided for people affected by sexual violence in the region. Previously, successful fundraising events like the ‘The Gatsby Ball’ fostered great awareness of the centre whilst raising funds and giving people a great night out, but covid has also meant that traditional fundraising activities like the ball and our usual street collections have had to take a back seat. This has made it very challenging for fundraising volunteers to engage with us. But we are going to change that by making it easier for our faithful supporters to continue to raise funds for SRCC.

So, what would you have to do? Firstly, set yourself a challenge, be that a 30-day burpee challenge, push ups, miles cycled, PlayStation hours played or a walking challenge, whatever you like, that is up to you. But, if you would like some inspiration, click HERE.  for our A to Z of fundraising ideas.

Whatever you choose to do, it is bound to have a positive impact as all contributions go directly to the provision of front-line services.

  • Every € 10 donated contributes to the cost of running our Freephone Helpline.
  • Every € 20 helps us provide specialised trauma counselling training for our volunteer counsellors.
  • Every €30 helps us deliver outreach education and awareness raising sessions.
  • Every € 50 provides vital support to survivors of sexual violence in Sligo, Leitrim and Cavan.

Once you have chosen your challenge, you can click HERE  to find our I Donate page, this is where you can also set up your own fundraising page. Don’t be daunted by the default fundraising target set on the page, you can change that to a target that is achievable for you.

Want support for your upcoming challenge?. We can provide information, leaflets, badges and stickers you require for promotion of your upcoming fundraising challenge and once you are all set up, we will be very happy to share your #SRCCChallenge progress with our supporters on our social media platforms. You can keep us updated by tagging @RccSligo on Twitter, @sligorcc on Instagram and/or @sligorapecrisiscentre on Facebook or by emailing info@srcc.ie

We look forward to having you on board for our September #SRCCChallenge, together we will make it a huge success.
